KILIMANJARO

KILIMANJARO
Another trek challenge completed - Reaching
the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro at 19,341 feet above sea level and the highest
free standing mountain in the world is my proudest achievement so far. I didn’t start trekking until I retired and I
have surprised myself (and many others) in what I have accomplished. I have had
the most incredible experiences and met some amazing and inspirational people. Thank you so much for all of your
support on each endeavour and for believing in me. You have helped me to raise £9,500 on this
trek taking the total for all three treks to a fantastic £18,000, with Gift Aid to be added to that total.

February 2014 - Walking In Majorca - Andratx Region

What a fabulous week and new friends made. A much changed landscape from previous visits with absolute devastation following the forest fires that were started by a BBQ. There were three scots on this holiday and I returned home with an invitation to visit Scotland and climb a Munro (A mountain over 3000 ft).

October 2013

It started with an e-mail last October – Would I like to join a group from Wakefield Hospice in a challenge to climb Mount Kilimanjaro?  After trekking to Machu Pichu 4 years ago I had declared that I would never want to trek at altitude again! So why didn’t I say no straight away? It was the ultimate challenge and it was for the Hospice – how could I say no?
I was signed up and all of the information arrived – my focus was on the preparation – the training programme was slightly different this time – they recommended training with consecutive days walking as we would be trekking for 7 days, so that would be my first holiday for this year – 7 days walking in Majorca
