Another trek challenge completed - Reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro at 19,341 feet above sea level and the highest free standing mountain in the world is my proudest achievement so far. I didn’t start trekking until I retired and I have surprised myself (and many others) in what I have accomplished. I have had the most incredible experiences and met some amazing and inspirational people. Thank you so much for all of your support on each endeavour and for believing in me. You have helped me to raise £9,500 on this trek taking the total for all three treks to a fantastic £18,000, with Gift Aid to be added to that total.

March 5th – The Trossachs, Scotland
Spent a week’s holiday with Derek and Bear enjoying daily walks, warming up for what is to come. Could do with taking Bear with me to China the way he pulled me up those hills!
I have a longstanding indebtedness to the Wakefield Hospice who provided palliative care to my late husband John during his battle with lung cancer in 1991.
As a family we have never forgotten the special care and much needed emotional support we received at this most difficult time in our lives. When an opportunity presents itself we do our best to support the hospice in any way that we can. Following retirement walking has become my ‘thing’ and I hope by taking on these different walking challenges I can raise some much needed funds and give something back to this very worthy local charity.
